Oliver has recently returned from Thailand after travelling with Intrepid on their Essential Southern Thailand 18 - 35s tour, visiting Bangkok, Koh Samui, Khao Sok National Park and Phuket.
With direct flights from London Heathrow Airport to Bangkok with Thai Airways, he enjoyed a smooth, relaxed and non-stop journey.
Here's Oliver's diary from his adventure:
Day 1 - Bangkok
We started by meeting our leader and a group dinner in Bangkok’s Chinatown. Here we learnt about each others backgrounds, where we had come from, and which counties had been ticked off everyone’s lists prior to this trip. My group had a mixture of students and young professionals from across Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.

Day 2 - Bangkok
This morning we had a guided tour of Wat Pho and the famous golden lying Buddha. We grabbed a quick lunch and spent the afternoon at Siam Paragon luxury mall. The day ended with a trip to the main station in Bangkok to board our overnight train to Surat Thani. As someone who had never done a sleeper train - this was certainly a new experience!
Day 3 - Koh Samui
An early start with breakfast in a local cafe close to the train station and onto our private minibus and onto a ferry which took us to the island of Koh Samui. The afternoon was spent exploring waterfalls and monuments. We then checked into our resort hotel and relaxed by the pool just in time for happy hour.
Day 4 - Koh Samui
Today myself and 3 others headed to the island of Koh Sok - a quieter and smaller island, around 2 hours away by boat. After snorkelling and seeing the coral reefs and tropical fish, a buffet lunch was served, followed by a trip to the beach. After getting back, we experienced the nightlife in Koh Samui with our guide.
Day 5 - Koh Samui
This was the one day where we had no plans. After a busy few days, I slept in, had a late breakfast at the hotel and spent most of the day by the pool. For dinner we explored the night market with our guide and ended the evening with drinks on the beach.
Day 6 - Koh Sok National Park
An early start with a ferry journey and bus trip to my personal highlight of the trip - Koh Sok National Park. Once at the park, we transferred to a tail boat and began the hour long journey to the raft houses. Once we had taken in the views, we used the kayaks, went swimming and completed a wildlife exertion on the tail boat, where saw monkeys and wild birds up close! The night ended with star gazing and card games with the group.
Day 7 - Phuket
Today we woke up at 06.00 to see the sunrise over the lake. After breakfast we headed back to the mainland and were on our way down to Phuket. We stopped at a turtle conservation centre to break up the journey and arrived in Phuket in the evening. After jumping in the pool to cool off, we headed for our final group dinner.
Oliver returned home after his unforgettable 10 days in Thailand, flying from Phuket to Bangkok before boarding a 13-hour direct flight from Bangkok to London Heathrow.
Oliver also travelled to India in July 2025 with his dad on a tour with Intrepid Travel.
